Information for the Citizens of Custer County Montana

Confirm your voting status TODAY!

Posted: September 29, 2020

Make sure you are registered to VOTE in Custer County Montana!

On October 9th ballots for the election will be mailed to all Custer County registered voters. Please take 5 minutes to confirm your voting status.

In Custer County Montana, if someone does not vote in an election, they may be moved to “inactive” status. Those who are on inactive status won’t get a mailed ballot, but they remain registered, and can get a ballot if they request one. If you remain inactive for two general elections, you are removed from the registration rolls.

Go to this website to CHECK your voting status > Check Your Voter Registration Status – https://app.mt.gov/voterinfo/

You can also call the Custer County Election Office at (406) 874-3343 to confirm your status.

If you need to REGISTER to vote please visit the Custer County Courthouse in Miles City, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and complete a registration form.

If you can’t get to the courthouse, you can DOWNLOAD, fill out and sign a voter registration application and drop it off at your county election office, or mail it to the county election administrator. Visit this link to download your voter registration form > https://sosmt.gov/Portals/142/Elections/Forms/Voter_Registration_Application.pdf

You must provide your Montana (MT) Driver’s License number or MT Identification (ID) card number when you register.   If you do not have a MT Driver’s License or MT ID card, you can provide the last 4 digits of your Social Security number (SSN).    If you do not have a MT Driver’s License or MT ID card, or a SSN, attach a copy of photo ID that shows your name, or acceptable ID that shows your name and current address  (paycheck stub; utility bill; bank statement; tribal ID; or government document).

You will need to provide a residence address or specific geographic location information from which your residence address may be determined. The residence address must be in the county in which you are registering.

NOTE: Due to the Governor’s Directive, the deadline for regular registration for the 2020 Federal General Election on November 3, 2020, has been moved to October 26, 2020. If you miss that deadline, you can still register and vote in the election by late registering at your county election office or designated location.

Late Registration on October 27, 2020 at your county election office at any time right up through the close of polls on election day, except from noon until 5:00 p.m. on November 2, 2020.
